{"id":546,"date":"2023-12-18T10:15:42","date_gmt":"2023-12-18T10:15:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/global-science-and-epistemic-justice\/?p=546"},"modified":"2023-12-18T10:15:58","modified_gmt":"2023-12-18T10:15:58","slug":"dr-shepherd-tackles-racial-disparity-in-stem-cell-transplant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/global-science-and-epistemic-justice\/2023\/12\/18\/dr-shepherd-tackles-racial-disparity-in-stem-cell-transplant\/","title":{"rendered":"Dr Shepherd Tackles Racial Disparity in Stem Cell Transplant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Since summer 2023, GSEJ founding member \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/biosciences\/people\/1026\/shepherd-jill\">Dr Jill Shepherd<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/biosciences\">(School of Biosciences)<\/a>\u00a0has been working with Health Action Charity Organisation and New Life Pentecostal Church as well as other communities to help address the inequality in stem cell transplants between white and black patients.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/news\/science\/34327\/mind-the-gap-engaging-with-the-black-community-on-stem-cell-donation\">Dr Shepherd attended the launching<\/a> of a recent report, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teammargot.com\/all-party-parliamentary-group-inquiry\/\">Where are our nations donors?<\/a>, published by the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Ethnicity Transplantation and Transfusion.
