The Centre for Global Science and Epistemic Justice is pleased to announce the launch of two major social research programs examining the development and applications of engineering biology. Led by Professor Joy Y. Zhang, these initiatives will adopt an empirically grounded and forward-looking approach to understanding how evolving social ethics intersect with public engagement, policy formation, and scientific practice.
At the heart of these programs lies a recognition that technological breakthroughs—such as the synthesis of large human and plant genomes—not only drive scientific and industrial innovation but also reshape our very understanding of life itself. As these advancements challenge existing ethical paradigms, it becomes imperative to critically examine how they align with the common good and redefine societal responsibilities in an era of unprecedented biotechnological possibility.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to pioneering initiatives which advances the understanding and practice of governance and ethics within a pluriverse of global perspectives. As part of these programs, we will soon be opening applications for four postdoctoral positions and one professional services position (Project Manager).
While the official job descriptions will be published soon, we are pleased to share this pre-announcement of the available positions and their key criteria. We hope this early insight will inspire and encourage prospective applicants to express their interest.
