GSEJ External Member Awarded British Council Venice Fellowship

We are pleased to congratulate GSEJ External Member Camille Serisier on her selection as a 2026 British Pavilion Fellow with the British Council, representing the University for the Creative Arts. The Fellowship forms part of the 61st Venice Biennale, one of the most significant global platforms for contemporary art.

Camille will develop a reflexive, multi-modal journal engaging with the British Pavilion exhibition by Lubaina Himid. Combining creative writing, drawing, and photography, the project documents both her situated experience of the installation and its public reception, foregrounding questions of interpretation, audience, and cultural mediation.

Her doctoral research contributes to UCA’s Fast Forward: Women in Photography project, and this Venice Fellowship operates as a pilot for future collaborations with museums and galleries seeking to engage diverse perspectives. In parallel, the Fellowship positions Camille as a UK ambassador within an international cultural arena, advancing both her research trajectory and practice-based inquiry.

We warmly congratulate Camille on this achievement and look forward to following her work. Updates can be found on Instagram: @camilleserisier.
