Dr Jennifer Leigh, a founding member of GSEJ, has been awarded the Royal Society of Chemistry’s 2025 Inclusion and Diversity Prize. The prestigious honour recognises her exceptional work in improving accessibility, inclusivity, and diversity within the chemical sciences.
Grounded in her therapeutic training, Dr Leigh’s research harnesses embodied, reflective, and creative practices for social justice. Her recent projects include collaborations with Dr Jennifer Tullet to support life sciences PhD students through reflective practice, and contributions to the International Women in Supramolecular Chemistry (WISC) network, founded by Professor Jennifer Hiscock, which works to retain and advance women and marginalised groups in the field.
Nationally, Dr Leigh is a leading advocate for disability inclusion in STEMM. As co-lead of the National Association of Disabled Staff Networks STEMM Action Group, she has contributed to a forthcoming White Paper—supported by Wellcome—offering guidance on creating inclusive environments for disabled researchers.
