Dr Leigh Named in Shaw Trust Disability Power 100 List

Many congratulations to Dr. Jennifer Leigh, a founding member of GSEJ, who has been named in this year’s Shaw Trust Disability Power 100 list in recognition of her work on disability and ableism in academia.

‘I am not a typical academic’, wrote Dr. Leigh, ‘After an undergraduate degree and late-aborted PhD in science I qualified as a yoga teacher, somatic movement educator, and therapist. I worked for ten years as an artist/in private practice before simultaneously re-training as a science teacher and completing a PhD in education. Since joining Higher Education I have worked across psychology, education, sociology, and science.’

This interdisciplinary background informed her academic research. She has developed Embodied Inquiry and PanEthnography investigating academic cultures. You can read her full profile  here: https://disabilitypower100.com/individual/dr-jennifer-leigh/
