GSEJ Visits the Takshashila Institution in Bangaluru

GSEJ members Prof. Joy Zhang and Dr. Trude Sundberg visited the Takshashila Institution in Bangaluru on 10th January. This visit was built on previous online exchanges regarding global good governance of synthetic biology and the roles of the Global South between Prof Joy Zhang and Dr. Shambhavi Naik, the Head of Research at Takshashila.

The first in-person roundtable between GSEJ and Takshashila was held during their visit. 11 expert participants from medicine, pharmaceutical industry, community engagement, public policy and geopolitics joined the discussion on on collaborative governance can be constructed to meet the challenges of increasing privatisation, national competitiveness, and socio-economic divides.

The Takshashila Institution is an independent centre for research and education in public policy. It seeks to transform India through better public policies, bridging the governance gap by developing better public servants, civil society leaders, professionals and informed citizens. The institution is named after the ancient city of Takshashila, which was the site of arguably the world’s oldest public policy school.
