We are delighted to announce that Ivan Delgado Pitti, Director at the Ministry of Environment and Energy in Costa Rica, and his colleagueswill share their work on promoting climate actions both nationally and internationally at the next Decolonising Global Participation Forum that GSEJ is hosting.

Costa Rica, a tiny Central American nation is one of the most biodiverse country on earth and is undoubtedly a world leader in taking actions against climate change and fighting biodiversity loss. The country is aiming for total decarbonisation by 2050, not just a “net zero” target.

The search for environmental justice and sustainable futures demands the ability to engage with and mobilising divers interests across traditional cultural and political boundaries. The event was originally scheduled for February but was cancelled due to the UCU strike.

We are delighted to announce that in the re-organisation of the event, Adrian Ely, Reader in Technology and Sustainability at University of Sussex has also agreed to join the discussion. Between 2015 and 2021, Dr. Ely has co-led the ‘Transformative Pathways to Sustainability’ network, a global consortium of partners exploring diverse approach to sustainability can meet the needs of poor and marginalised people.

The session is chaired by Dr. Trude Sundberg, Director of the Q-Step Centre and a founding member of the Centre for Global Science and Epistemic Justice at the University of Kent.
