{"id":504,"date":"2020-02-07T11:14:57","date_gmt":"2020-02-07T11:14:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/cewl-ip\/?p=504"},"modified":"2020-11-10T12:05:04","modified_gmt":"2020-11-10T12:05:04","slug":"mandarin-chinese-language-and-culture-exchange-visit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/global-learning\/2020\/02\/07\/mandarin-chinese-language-and-culture-exchange-visit\/","title":{"rendered":"Mandarin Chinese language and culture exchange visit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"lead\">CEWL recently welcomed two students from  Xi&#8217;an KeDaGaoXin University, China  for a short-term exchange visit.<\/p>\n<p>Yuan Xueru and Mei Yixiao,\u00a0 undergraduates studying International Chinese Teaching at Xi&#8217;an KeDaGaoXin University (KDGX), recently spent\u00a0 two weeks at Kent through an exchange programme between the Centre for English and World Languages and KDGX, which was established last academic year.<\/p>\n<p>During their stay, the students observed our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/cewl\/courses\/world\/index.html\">World Languages<\/a> classes including Mandarin, Arabic and Japanese and led\u00a0 speaking and writing workshops to help students to improve their Mandarin language skills.They also attended various <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/cewl\/courses\/in-sessional\/elas.html\">English Language and Academic Skills <\/a>\u00a0classes to improve their English.\u00a0\u00a0Above all, they worked\u00a0 hard to design and deliver some workshops in Chinese culture &#8211; which included music and singing &#8211;\u00a0 and calligraphy. Both workshops went down very well with the students who took part. They both became buddies with Yuan Xueru and Mei Yixiao and gave them great help during their stay.
