Cycling At Betteshanger"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"lead\">International students enjoyed a trip to Betteshanger Park last week as part of University of Kent\u2019s Give It A Go (GIAG) programme of events. <\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/kentunion.co.uk\/giveitago\">Give It A Go events<\/a>, which take place throughout the year and include everything from craft sessions to sports and off-campus trips, are open to all students. You can get involved in as many events as you want and there\u2019s no membership or long-term commitment required.<\/p>\n<p>Coming up in March and April, don\u2019t miss <a href=\"https:\/\/kentunion.co.uk\/events\/id\/2595\">axe throwing<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/kentunion.co.uk\/events\/id\/2614\">booiaka dance fitness<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/kentunion.co.uk\/events\/id\/2594\">Go Ape at Leeds Castle<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/kentunion.co.uk\/events\/id\/2677\">bubble football<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/kentunion.co.uk\/events\/id\/2604\">Easter crafts<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The cycling trip, which was co-organised by Kent Sport and Kent Union, took students to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.betteshanger-park.co.uk\/things-to-do\/cycling\/\">Betteshanger Country Park<\/a> in Deal, a 250-acre park and one of the South East\u2019s most important cycling venues.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1181\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/global-learning\/files\/2023\/03\/WhatsApp-Image-2023-02-23-at-19.23.03.jpeg\" alt=\"Give it a Go cycling in Betteshanger\" width=\"200\" height=\"267\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Cycling is a great way to get active and boost mental health while enjoying a low impact workout.<\/p>\n<p>The Park offers a smooth, traffic-free tarmac track to allow for road cycling for groups, and an off-road single track for mountain biking. Situated in a woodland valley within the North Downs hills, the trails take intrepid cyclists through a variety of natural landscapes, including woodland, grassland and meadows.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1179\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/global-learning\/files\/2023\/03\/IMG-20230223-WA0051.jpg\" alt=\"Give it a Go Cycling at Betteshanger\" width=\"200\" height=\"267\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Students from Mauritius, Pakistan, India, and several European countries came together to enjoy exploring the Park\u2019s cycle tracks and trails.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1175\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/global-learning\/files\/2023\/03\/IMG-20230223-WA0015.jpg\" alt=\"Give it a go Cycling at Betteshanger\" width=\"200\" height=\"267\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The trip was a big hit, with participants providing glowing feedback to the organisers. One students said<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI was dying to bicycle around here from last 7 months.
