Next week is Creative Careers Week at University of Kent, a series of creative career focused events organised by the Careers and Employability Service<\/a> and open to all students, whether or not you\u2019re studying a creative subject.<\/p>\n

Each event offers Employability Points<\/a> as well as key insight into careers in the creative industries.<\/p>\n

If you’re interested in a creative career, or just curious about what that would entail, don’t miss the packed schedule of events. Here’s a round up of what’s going on.<\/p>\n

Want to learn more about the creative industries?<\/strong> Head to the Creative Round Table<\/a> on 7 March 6-8pm<\/strong> in the Gulbenkian Cafe <\/strong>to find out what creative employers are looking for from graduates. The Panel will include representatives from East Kent creative youth charity Pie Factory Music<\/a>, The Conversation Agency<\/a>, an agency specialising in philosophical inquiry, and multidisciplinary artist Jemima Sara<\/a>. The event will also feature a keynote from Re:Generation 2031<\/a>, a project empowering young people to access creative careers.<\/p>\n

Fascinated by creative trends?<\/strong> Creative UK<\/a>, an independent network for the UK\u2019s creative industries, will be giving a talk on Trends and Insights from the Creative Industries<\/a> on 9 March from 11am-12pm<\/strong> in KS12<\/strong>. The talk will cover sectors including music, fashion, theatre, film and TV, gaming and VR.<\/p>\n

They will also be hosting a walkthrough of their Creative UK Student Membership<\/a> platform, designed to support and promote the careers of emerging creatives on 9 March from 2-3pm<\/strong> in KS13<\/strong>. Gain access to exclusive videos and advice, opportunities and insight into gaining paid work.<\/p>\n

For those interested in freelancing<\/strong> in the creative industries, from film production roles to freelance writing work, there\u2019s a hybrid event on 6 March 12-1pm<\/strong> in KS13<\/strong> (and online) on the subject of Freelancing in the Creative Industries<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Or, join the Freelancing Panel<\/a> on 7 March 12-1pm (online)<\/strong> to hear advice from freelance alumni on how to get ahead in freelancing in sectors including content creation, marketing, podcasting, writing, journalism, and events planning.<\/p>\n

Perhaps you\u2019re interested in developing multiple income streams? If so, you\u2019ll want to head to the interactive workshop on Managing a Portfolio Career<\/a> on 10 March 1-2pm<\/strong> (online).<\/p>\n

Thinking about working in Digital Marketing?<\/strong> Join Reflect Digital<\/em>\u2019s Sami (Paid Media Executive and SEO expert) and Aisyah (Digital Marketing Executive and Kent alumn) at the hybrid event Journeys to Digital Marketing<\/a> on 6 March 1.20-2.30pm<\/strong> in KS13<\/strong>. They\u2019ll be sharing industry stories and discussing their own experiences getting into the sector.<\/p>\n

Or join the Digital Creatives Panel<\/a> on 9 March from 3-4pm<\/strong> in KS16<\/strong> (and online). You\u2019ll hear industry stories from experts on how to succeed as a digital media creative.<\/p>\n

Interested in a role in film or TV production?<\/strong> Join In Conversation with … Beth Matthews<\/a> on 6 March 7-8pm (online)<\/strong> to hear from Kent\u2019s BA in Film Studies alumn and Access Coordinator for High-End TV, a role involving advocacy for D\/deaf, disabled and neurodivergent talent in the screen industry.<\/p>\n

Fancy a career in the publishing industry?<\/strong> Join the hybrid event Publishing and Bookselling: An Inside Story<\/a> on 7 March 2.30-3.30pm<\/strong> in KS13<\/strong>, to hear from book industry professional Kate Gunning, who has worked as Head of Buying at Foyles, Independent Bookshops Manager at Penguin Random House, and Membership Manager at The Booksellers Association. Hear her industry experiences and gain insight into a career in books.<\/p>\n

Considering a career in the heritage sector?<\/strong> Come along to the hybrid event Careers in Heritage Panel<\/a> on 7 March 5-6pm<\/strong> in GLT3<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Want to gain a competitive edge in the creative industries?<\/strong> Join the hybrid event on CVs and Cover Letters<\/a> on 8 March from 1-2pm<\/strong> in KLT6<\/strong> (and livestreamed) for top tips on updating and presenting your creative credentials.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s also a session on Creative CVs<\/a> on 10 March 10-11am<\/strong>, focusing specifically on how to structure your CV and what to include. This is followed by Write it Right: Make your CV Accessible<\/a> from 11-12pm in KS13<\/strong>, where you\u2019ll learn top tips on how to ensure your CV fits in a diverse global marketplace.<\/p>\n

Or join the hybrid event on Interview Preparation Skills<\/a> on 9 March from 11am-12pm<\/strong> in KLT5<\/strong> (and livestreamed).<\/p>\n
