You\u2019ll get to see your ideas come to life and create a positive impact for other students. And you\u2019ll get to make new friends along the way!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1072\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/global-learning\/files\/2023\/02\/Gold_curriculumInt_workshop-3.jpg\" alt=\"Students on the GOLD programme\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><strong>What\u2019s involved?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The year long GOLD5000 module is made up of several components designed to fit around your degree studies.<\/p>\n<p>You must complete all five components to complete the module.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Component 1: Getting started<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At the start of the module, you will identify your skillset and your goals for the year.<\/p>\n<p>You will attend:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>an autumn-term welcome session where you\u2019ll learn about cultural intelligence (CQ) and reflect on your skills and intercultural awareness;<\/li>\n<li>a spring-term Curriculum Internationalisation workshop aimed at developing a common language and clarifying key terms.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This will give you an excellent foundation and roadmap for achieving your skills and ambitions!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Component 2: Training workshops and conference<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Your leadership and global skills development will be supported throughout the year with training workshops.<\/p>\n<p>You will attend:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>workshops held throughout the year on topics such as Talking Cultures, Sustainability, Internationalisation, Leadership in a Global Context, and Event Management<\/li>\n<li>our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/global-learning\/news\/1057\/annual-gold-conference-london-2023\">annual GOLD Conference<\/a> in London<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The workshops will help you build and diversify your skillset, while the GOLD Conference will introduce you to industry leaders and speakers and provide you with networking opportunities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Component 3: Internationalised student engagement<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You will participate in a range of engagement and information exchange activities on campus, such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>marketing and promotion projects<\/li>\n<li>student media campaigns<\/li>\n<li>focus groups<\/li>\n<li>campus tours<\/li>\n<li>other engagement activities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Taking part in a range of activities will provide you with practical experiences to add to your CV. Plus, you\u2019ll gain the satisfaction that comes from contributing to the University of Kent wider community.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Component 4: Project and event planning<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s where you\u2019ll put your learning into action!<\/p>\n<p>Based on your chosen goals, you\u2019ll be allocated events and activities to plan and deliver, such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Global Hangout events<\/li>\n<li>WorldFest Bitesize events<\/li>\n<li>Sustainability Forums<\/li>\n<li>additional events you organise yourself as part of the programme<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This is where you really get to see your skills come to life!<\/p>\n<p>Your creative and practical ideas will directly inform these regular events, and you\u2019ll gain hands-on experience of planning and delivering them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Component 5: Summer check-in and final review session<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You will attend an interactive group session where you\u2019ll reflect on your progress and set goals for the future.<\/p>\n<p>This is your opportunity to consider how far you\u2019ve come on the Programme and map out how you\u2019ll put your skills into practice in the wider world!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1079\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/global-learning\/files\/2023\/02\/IMG_7967.jpg\" alt=\"GOLD Final Review Session\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><strong>What will you get out of GOLD? <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In addition to earning <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/employability-points\">Employability Points<\/a>, you will also receive:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A Certificate of Recognition<\/li>\n<li>A personal reference from the Dean &amp; Director of Global and Lifelong Learning<\/li>\n<li>Recognition on your Higher Education Achievement Report<\/li>\n<li>Practical event and project management experience<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>What do previous Global Officers say about the programme?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<p><em>&#8220;It was enjoyable to see our work being put into practice, as a lot of university work is more theoretical and with GOLD, we had the opportunity to see the results of our work&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;I was able to improve my cultural awareness, communication skills, be more organised and learned how to plan my time more wisely.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;I have felt more of a part of the university community.
