{"id":106,"date":"2018-08-14T14:08:39","date_gmt":"2018-08-14T13:08:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/cewl-ip\/?p=106"},"modified":"2018-08-14T14:08:58","modified_gmt":"2018-08-14T13:08:58","slug":"innovative-applications-for-language-teaching-and-learning","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/global-learning\/2018\/08\/14\/innovative-applications-for-language-teaching-and-learning\/","title":{"rendered":"Innovative applications for songs in Language Teaching and Learning"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After the publication of her stimulating 2014 article &#8216;Exploratory Practice: Researching the Impact of Songs on EFL Learners&#8217; Verbal Memory&#8217; published in <em>Journal of Second Language Teaching and Research<\/em>, our CELTA Main Course Tutor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/cewl\/staff\/profiles\/english-language\/rcoleman.html\">Rebecca Coleman<\/a> was approached by the\u00a0<em>International Journal of Modern Language Teaching and Learning<\/em>\u00a0(IJMLTL), an open-access and peer-reviewed international journal regarding an additional\u00a0contribution on a similar topic.<\/p>\n<p>This second published piece of work is titled: &#8216;Verbal Memory and Popular Song: Possible Applications for Language Teaching and Learning.&#8217; It is available to read and download from: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ijmltl.com\/fulltext\/paper-10082018132857.pdf\">IJMLTL<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As an extension of this, IJMLTL have also asked Rebecca to write a chapter on her innovative approach to Learning and Teaching for a book on methodology: <em>Connotative Lexical Approach<\/em>.
