We recently had the pleasure of welcoming a wonderful group of CSCSE SQA Advanced Diploma (CSCSE SQA AD) students from China Service Centre for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE). Over the past two weeks, students have participated in an academic and cultural immersion program at the University of Kent. The course was designed to offer a genuine experience of UK student life through a packed schedule of workshops and excursions while focusing on developing Professional Skills.
The program kicked off with a warm welcome and orientation, followed by a delicious meal at Woody’s. The first week’s agenda included workshops with the ASPIRE team on Market Research, and workshops on Presentation and Email Skills. Saturday saw the students explore London and the British Museum.
The second week was dedicated to further developing both professional and cultural competencies. Students participated in thought-provoking sessions on intercultural communication and Cultural Intelligence, professional skills, writing press releases and email writing. The group also visited our historic City Centre, Canterbury Cathedral and relaxed while learning about Canterbury’s history on a river boat tour. The week featured a day trip to Oxford, exploring the city and colleges.

For the final sessions, the focus was on refining professional and academic skills through workshops on CV writing, reflective practice and delivering their group capstone project presentations. It was truly rewarding to witness their development and hear their reflections on their incredible trip.
A huge thank you to everyone who made this program a success! This collaborative effort was made possible by our amazing Student Ambassadors, as well as colleagues from Conferencing, Catering, International Recruitment (shoutout to Cici!), and the Careers and Employability team. We also appreciate the expertise shared in sessions on the Right to Food and Community Oasis Garden visits.
