This autumn, Global Officers planned a Global Hangout —combining the fun of Halloween and the warmth of Diwali! With creativity, culture, and community at its heart, the event was a vibrant celebration of diversity, teamwork, and leadership.
Here’s a quick recap of the fun activities that made the day unforgettable!
1. Halloween Mask Making
Who doesn’t love a bit of spooky fun? We kicked things off by creating Halloween masks—everything from creepy creatures to whimsical characters! Attendees rolled up their sleeves, got messy with paints, glitter, and feathers, and let their creativity run wild. It was great to see people from different backgrounds bonding over their designs, and the results were scarily amazing!
2. Diya Decorating
We lit up the room with Diwali Diya Decorating. These traditional oil lamps are symbols of light and positivity, and everyone had a blast painting and decorating their own. From glittery gold accents to vibrant colours, each Diya was a unique masterpiece. It was inspiring to see how something so simple could symbolize the triumph of light over darkness—both literally and metaphorically!
3. Henna Art
To add a cultural touch, we dived into Henna Painting—an art form closely associated with Diwali. Whether it was intricate floral patterns or simple designs, everyone enjoyed the meditative process of getting beautiful henna tattoos. It was a lovely way to relax, chat with friends, and learn something new.
No event is complete without some delicious snacks! We had a selection of drinks like Lassi and indulgent brownies—with vegan and allergy-friendly versions for everyone to enjoy. It was the perfect treat to sip on while chatting and enjoying the activities.
For the Global Officers, beyond the fun activities, the event was a perfect opportunity to practice our leadership and teamwork. From planning the event to collaborating on this project, it was inspiring to see everyone pitch in. Working together, I felt we created something truly special, and it reminded me how important it is to embrace diverse perspectives and work as a team.
This Global Hangout wasn’t just about celebrating Diwali and Halloween, it was about connecting, learning, and having fun together as a community. If you missed it, don’t worry- there will be plenty more opportunities to get involved, try new things, and make lasting memories!
Spooky vibes and festive lights — our Halloween and Diwali Autumn Global Hangout was a blend of tricks, treats, and a whole lot of cheer!
