Yesterday marked the celebration event for Kent’s Global Officers, students undertaking the Global Officer Leadership Development (GOLD) Programme.
The GOLD Programme is a year-long extracurricular course designed to enable University of Kent undergraduate students to develop their leadership skills, global citizenship and intercultural awareness.
Global Officers work closely with the Dean & Director of Global and Lifelong Learning, Anthony Manning, as well as Internationalisation Officer Emma Marku and Head of International Programmes, Seb Cadinot.
It was wonderful to congratulate those in attendance on their many achievements this academic year. Global Officers have played a key role in the University’s Internationalisation at Home activities.
For instance, Global Officers are instrumental in helping to organise and facilitate Kent’s Global Hangouts, a series of events that take place throughout the year offering the opportunity to meet other students from across the University, take part in fun activities, and enjoy refreshments and entertainment.
Global Officers also took part in the GOLD Conference in London, which provided them with an opportunity to develop and reflect upon their leadership and global citizenship skills.
In addition, Global Officers played a key role in WorldFest, the University’s annual celebration of the rich cultural diversity of our staff and students.
Other key initiatives in which Global Officers have participated and played a key role include a virtual exchange with University of North Carolina; the Ukraine English Club (working with our partner institution, Kherson State University; campus tours for visitors to the University; a Global Citizenship course; and a boat tour for international students.
Are you a globally minded undergraduate at University of Kent? The GOLD Programme is perfect for students who are committed, reliable, enthusiastic, organised and professional, and who are interested in developing leadership and global citizenship skills.
