{"id":2257,"date":"2022-01-31T15:24:45","date_gmt":"2022-01-31T15:24:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/finance-news\/?p=2257"},"modified":"2022-01-31T15:24:45","modified_gmt":"2022-01-31T15:24:45","slug":"expenses-policy-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/finance-news\/2022\/01\/31\/expenses-policy-update\/","title":{"rendered":"Expenses Policy Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A recent review of the Employee Personal Expenditure Policy (EPEP) has been undertaken and the new policy will take effect from 1st February 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Staff Connect has been updated to reflect the changes as have all documents on the Finance website which can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/finance-staff\/services\/expenses.html\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A summary of the key changes are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Non receipted subsistence and out of pocket expenses can no longer be claimed<\/li>\n<li>Receipted subsistence rates have been amended<\/li>\n<li>A new flowchart to help determine whether a mileage claim can be classed as a business or private journey has been added. Only excess mileage over and above an employee&#8217;s normal commute will be permitted.<\/li>\n<li>Any journeys to a business destination less than 10 miles from an employee&#8217;s place of work can no longer be claimed.<\/li>\n<li>The ratio for entertaining visitors has been reduced to 3:1<\/li>\n<li>The need to seek approval from the Director of HR for professional subscriptions has been removed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please familiarise yourself with the new policy before submitting any claims to ensure they are compliant and avoid any delays in your claim being processed.<\/p>\n<p>Any claims relating to expenditure being incurred before 1st February can still be claimed at the rates that were set at that time.<\/p>\n<p>For any questions relating to this please contact <a href=\"mailto:expenses@kent.ac.uk\">expenses@kent.ac.uk<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A recent review of the Employee Personal Expenditure Policy (EPEP) has been undertaken and the new policy will take effect from 1st February 2022.
