{"id":8,"date":"2014-11-07T16:33:35","date_gmt":"2014-11-07T16:33:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/estates-news\/?p=8"},"modified":"2016-02-23T15:28:03","modified_gmt":"2016-02-23T15:28:03","slug":"coppicing-in-bluebell-woods","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/estates-news\/2014\/11\/07\/coppicing-in-bluebell-woods\/","title":{"rendered":"Coppicing in Bluebell Woods"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Estates Department will begin the annual coppicing programme in Bluebell Woods, just south of the Venue on Monday 10<sup>th<\/sup> November, for a period of about 4 weeks.<\/p>\n<p>This is in line with our Woodland Management plan that is part of the Estates Department ISO 14001 accreditation for biodiversity. The work will encourage a more diverse habitat for both woodland plants and insects as well as enhance the area for birds, animals and humans alike.<\/p>\n<p>We will re-coppice old stools and leave some standard trees such as oak, beech and hornbeam standing to mature more over time.<\/p>\n<p>There may well be times when the footpath through the woods will be closed for safety reasons, but we will keep everyone updated through the Estates Helpdesk service disruption notices.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Estates Department will begin the annual coppicing programme in Bluebell Woods, just south of the Venue on Monday 10th November, for a period of about 4 weeks.
