{"id":23,"date":"2022-05-27T09:42:08","date_gmt":"2022-05-27T08:42:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/esgi167\/?page_id=23"},"modified":"2022-05-27T09:42:08","modified_gmt":"2022-05-27T08:42:08","slug":"information-for-participants","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/esgi167\/information-for-participants\/","title":{"rendered":"Information for participants"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Participants<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica, serif\">Academics with backgrounds in all strands of mathematics, engineering and scientific computing, and at all stages of their career (i.e. from research students to emeritus professors), are encouraged to participate.<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica, serif\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica, serif\">PhD students<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica, serif\">Your institution may have funds available to subsidise some of the costs, so we encourage you to look into what funding is available. However, if funding is not available then we will endeavour to cover fees for as many students as funds permit, since we are keen to have the widest participation possible. <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica, serif\">Students on a free place should be prepared to volunteer time to help with practical tasks during the week. <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica, serif\">CDT PhD students will be charged a subsidised fee.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica, serif\">All PhD students should check that your supervisor agrees to your participation in the Study Group <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica, serif\"><i><b>before<\/b><\/i><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica, serif\"> you register.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica, serif\">Post-PhD and academics<\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"western\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica, serif\">In order to encourage participation and generate a vibrant atmosphere, our aim is that there will no participation fee for most post-PhD academics. However, there are budgetary considerations and so the number of free places is limited.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica, serif\">Both paid and free places include full-board and accommodation, <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica, serif\">including<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica, serif\">Accommodation, including breakfast at Keynes<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica, serif\">\u00a0College.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica, serif\">Lunch each day (Monday to Friday).<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica, serif\">Evening meal (Monday \u2013 Thursday).<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica, serif\">Study group dinner on Wednesday evening.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"western\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica, serif\">Conference materials.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica, serif\">All participants are required to pay their own travel expenses. Participants who arrive on Sunday afternoon will need to make their own arrangements for their evening meal.
