{"id":95,"date":"2013-06-26T08:49:42","date_gmt":"2013-06-26T08:49:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/englishresearch\/?p=95"},"modified":"2013-06-26T08:49:42","modified_gmt":"2013-06-26T08:49:42","slug":"pride-and-prejudice-200th-anniversary-events-jennie-bachelor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/englishresearch\/2013\/06\/26\/pride-and-prejudice-200th-anniversary-events-jennie-bachelor\/","title":{"rendered":"Pride and Prejudice 200th Anniversary Events (Jennie Bachelor)"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>2013 sees not only the 200th anniversary of the publication of Jane Austen&#8217;s\u00a0<i>Pride and Prejudice<\/i>, but the 10th anniversary of the opening of Chawton House Library, a Centre for the Study of Women&#8217;s Writing from 1600-1830, housed in the Elizabethan Manor House that belonged to Austen&#8217;s brother, Edward Austen Knight.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>To celebrate both of these anniversaries, Chawton House Library will be hosting a three-day international conference between 4-6 July co-organised by Jennie Batchelor and Gillian Dow (University of Southampton). &#8216;Pride and Prejudices: Women&#8217;s Writing of the Long Eighteenth Century&#8217; is already fully subscribed.
