Each of the performers has significant links with both the city of Canterbury and the School of English. Both <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sarahsalway.net\/\">Sarah Salway<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/patienceagbabi.wordpress.com\/\">Patience Agbabi<\/a> have taught in the school in recent years, and the school is delighted to be welcoming Patience back next year as &#8216;Writer in Residence&#8217; in celebration of the school&#8217;s 50<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary. <a href=\"http:\/\/dansimpsonpoet.wordpress.com\/\">Dan Simpson<\/a>, spoken word poet and comp\u00e8re, graduated from the School of English in 2008 and has gone on to make a significant contribution to the local, national and international poetry scene.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.canterburyfestival.co.uk\/whats-on\/performance\/the-canterbury-laureates.aspx\">The Canterbury Laureates: An evening of spoken word<\/a>&#8216; takes place at the Canterbury Cathedral Lodge on Wednesday 29 October 2014 at 8pm.
