David launched the novel at Kent at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/english\/creativewriting\/events.html\">Creative Writing Reading Series<\/a>, a popular weekly event hosted by the Centre. Described by its publishers 4<sup>th<\/sup> Estate as a &#8220;medieval road movie&#8221;, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.harpercollins.co.uk\/9780007561186\/john-the-pupil\"><em>John the Pupil<\/em><\/a> recounts the journey taken from Oxford to Viterbo in 1267 by John, the pupil of the magus Roger Bacon, and two companions to deliver a secret package to the Pope.
