A party at Waterstones in Canterbury on 14<sup>th<\/sup> May celebrated the launch of the anthology. Staff, students, and guests gathered to hear from some of the contributors. The readings took us to Denmark, Chile, Paris, Nepal; there were bees, bicycles and buses; chickens without batteries; full Irish breakfasts and empanadas; text messages and train announcements and poems unearthed from the past. And then there was wine and pretzels and conversation. A good time was had by all.<\/p>\n<p>A diverse selection of short fiction, novel extracts and poetry \u2014 by turns surprising, funny, moving, experimental, fresh and always accomplished \u2014 <i>Kent Review Vol. 1<\/i> is a showcase of the very best work emerging from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/english\/research\/centres\/creative-writing.html\">Centre for Creative Writing<\/a>. It is the first in a biennial series, a beautifully produced paperback that staff and students alike can be proud of and which testifies to the strength and diversity of our thriving <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/english\/postgraduate\/index.html\">postgraduate programmes<\/a>.
