{"id":679,"date":"2014-04-04T11:48:48","date_gmt":"2014-04-04T10:48:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/english-news\/?p=679"},"modified":"2017-04-20T12:49:14","modified_gmt":"2017-04-20T11:49:14","slug":"sounds-new-poetry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/english-news\/2014\/04\/04\/sounds-new-poetry\/","title":{"rendered":"Sounds New Poetry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Internationally acclaimed poets, including those from the\u00a0School of English, will feature in this year&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/soundsnew.org.uk\/sounds-new-poetry\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sounds New Poetry Festival<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Jointly organised by the University&#8217;s centres for\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/english\/research\/centres\/mopoindex.html\" target=\"_blank\">Modern Poetry<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/english\/research\/centres\/creative-writing.html\" target=\"_blank\">Creative Writing<\/a>, Sounds New Poetry is an annual collaboration with the long-established Sounds New contemporary music festival.<\/p>\n<p>Launching on Friday 2 May, and featuring 14 events over seven days, Sounds New Poetry will welcome leading poets who will write new poetry inspired by the history and environment of Canterbury.<\/p>\n<p>The festival also provides visitors with the opportunity to hear poetry performances inspired by prominent local sites, such as Eastbridge Hospital, the Roman Museum, and St. Thomas&#8217; Church.
