{"id":606,"date":"2013-12-18T15:11:06","date_gmt":"2013-12-18T15:11:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/english-news\/?p=606"},"modified":"2017-04-20T12:50:19","modified_gmt":"2017-04-20T11:50:19","slug":"school-of-english-alumni-to-appear-on-christmas-university-challenge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/english-news\/2013\/12\/18\/school-of-english-alumni-to-appear-on-christmas-university-challenge\/","title":{"rendered":"School of English alumni to appear on Christmas University Challenge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Four well-known alumni\u00a0from the University of Kent will appear on BBC Two\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/mediacentre\/latestnews\/2013\/christmas-university-challenge.html\">Christmas University Challenge<\/a> to be broadcast on Saturday 21 December at 7.05pm.<\/p>\n<p>Competing against teams from 14 other universities and university colleges in the series, Kent\u2019s contestants are: Rebecca Lenkiewicz, playwright and film, television and radio screenwriter; Fi\u00a0Glover, writer and television and radio presenter; James Wong, television science presenter; and Robert Wade, screenwriter and co-writer of five James Bond films.<\/p>\n<p>Rebecca Lenkiewicz is a playwright, actor and poet who graduated from the University of Kent in 1989 with a BA in Literature and Film. Her play, <em>Her Naked Skin<\/em>, was performed at the National Theatre in 2008 and was the first play by a female playwright to be performed in the Olivier Theatre. Other plays include <em>The Night Season<\/em>, <em>Soho<\/em>, <em>The Painter<\/em>, <em>Shoreditch Madonna<\/em>, <em>That Almost Unnameable Lust<\/em>, <em>The Typist<\/em>, <em>Blue Moon Over Poplar<\/em>, <em>Wisconsin<\/em>, and <em>Stars Over Kabul<\/em>. She is currently a Patron of Asylum Aid.\u00a0Rebecca\u00a0also received an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/congregations\/honorary-grads\/archive\/past-grads\/rebeccalenkiewicz.html\">honorary degree<\/a> from the University of Kent in \u00a02012 in recognition of her contributions to the arts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Four well-known alumni\u00a0from the University of Kent will appear on BBC Two\u2019s Christmas University Challenge to be broadcast on Saturday 21 December at 7.05pm.
