A transcript of his text will be published <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nobelprize.org\/prizes\/literature\/2021\/gurnah\/lecture\/\"><u>here<\/u><\/a> at the same time.<\/p>\n<p>The Nobel Committee awarded this year\u2019s Prize to Professor Gurnah for\u00a0<em>\u2018his uncompromising and compassionate penetration of the effects of colonialism and the fate of the refugee in the gulf between cultures and continents.\u2019\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Dr Bashir Abu-Manneh, Head of the University\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/english\">School of English<\/a>, said: \u2018It is right that Professor Gurnah is being awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature today and recognised for a literary craft that is infused by humanity\u2019s common pursuit of justice.
