{"id":3470,"date":"2021-02-24T12:57:20","date_gmt":"2021-02-24T12:57:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/english-news\/?p=3470"},"modified":"2021-02-24T13:58:41","modified_gmt":"2021-02-24T13:58:41","slug":"write-right-to-the-world-group-launch-queer-megazine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/english-news\/2021\/02\/24\/write-right-to-the-world-group-launch-queer-megazine\/","title":{"rendered":"Write\/Right to the World Group launch Queer-Kuir-\u039a\u03bf\u03c5\u03ae\u03c1 Cyprus MegaZine for LGBT+ History Month"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"lead\">We are delighted to announce the launch of the Queer-Kuir-\u039a\u03bf\u03c5\u03ae\u03c1 Cyprus MegaZine project created by the Write\/Right to the World Group, School of English, for LGBTQ+ history month. <\/p>\n<p>Join the zoomcast on Friday 5th March from 4pm to celebrate the release of\u00a0<b><i>With Love from Postcolonial and Partitioned Queer Cyprus<\/i><\/b><i>,<\/i>\u00a0a Mega-Zine with <strong>o<\/strong><b>ver 25 literary and artistic queer voices\u00a0<\/b>subject to sites without rights.<\/p>\n<p>The event will feature\u00a0<b>live readings, performances, and screenings<\/b>\u00a0that will create queer spaces, times and energies with\u00a0the opportunity to ask questions to the authors, artists and editors.<\/p>\n<p>Through these voices<b>\u00a0<\/b>you will see and hear about the<b>\u00a0\u2018<\/b>LGBTQIA-to-Z\u2019 lived experiences related to colonial, postcolonial and partitioned failures, recent\u00a0failures linked to anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric in Turkey, and anti-corruption peaceful protests in Cyprus, among various other socio-political failures across the world.<\/p>\n<p>Our MegaZine has been produced with love from Cyprus and in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community, who struggle for their right to Cyprus, right to the Mediterranean, and right to the World.<\/p>\n<p>Sponsored by the Centre for Colonial and Postcolonial Studies and the Centre for Creative Writing, University of Kent, the project has been co-created\/edited together with Dr Bahriye Kemal and the undergraduate and postgraduate student body\u00a0 &#8211; Shelby Anderson, Rebecca Copsey, Guy Forster-Pearce, IG, Kaan Serin, Elizabeth Watson &#8211; who are studying the modules Right\/Write to the World: Displacement, Social Movement and Political Action, as well as the Contemporary, Reaching Out to the Community, and Colonial and Postcolonial Discourse.<\/p>\n<p><b>To book your space for Queer Mega-Zine launch go\u00a0<a title=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.co.uk\/e\/queer-kuir-cyprus-megazine-launch-tickets-142479669527?aff=ebdssbonlinesearch\" href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.co.uk\/e\/queer-kuir-cyprus-megazine-launch-tickets-142479669527?aff=ebdssbonlinesearch\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here.<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>The MegaZine will be available in two forms: a handmade bespoke version that can be pre-ordered, and a free E-Zine released by donations.
