{"id":3116,"date":"2020-06-24T11:21:53","date_gmt":"2020-06-24T10:21:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/english-news\/?p=3116"},"modified":"2020-06-24T11:21:53","modified_gmt":"2020-06-24T10:21:53","slug":"vybarr-cregan-reid-to-coach-new-running-course-a-good-runner","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/english-news\/2020\/06\/24\/vybarr-cregan-reid-to-coach-new-running-course-a-good-runner\/","title":{"rendered":"Vybarr Cregan-Reid to coach new running course: &#8216;A Good Runner&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/english\/people\/83\/cregan-reid-vybarr\">Professor Vybarr Cregan-Reid<\/a>, Professor of English and Environmental Humanities in the School of English, will act as coach for a new running course entitled <em><a href=\"https:\/\/agoodrunner.lovetrailsfestival.co.uk\/\">A Good Runner<\/a><\/em>, which begins on Tuesday 30 June, 2020.<\/p>\n<p><em>A Good Runner<\/em> will give participants the knowledge, tools and mindset to become a confident, resilient, strong and mindful runner. Over 10 live Zoom classes, the course will dive into mobility, strength and conditioning, mechanics, daily habits, stretching and explore what it means to be a good runner, and how as humans we are born to move and run.<\/p>\n<p>The course has come out of the ever-growing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lovetrailsfestival.co.uk\/\">Love Trails Festival<\/a> and gathers together expertise from all over the world.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Vybarr has has written widely on the subjects of literature, health, nature and the environment for the BBC, <i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/lifeandstyle\/the-running-blog\/2014\/jan\/16\/running-top-five-reasons-keep-going\" data-link-type=\"external\">The Guardian<\/a><\/i>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/author\/vybarr-cregan-reid\" data-link-type=\"external\"><i>The<\/i> <i>Independent<\/i><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/lifestyle\/wellbeing\/fitness\/11589612\/How-to-become-a-happy-runner.html\" data-link-type=\"external\"><i>the<\/i> <i>Telegraph<\/i><\/a>, <i>The Sunday Times<\/i>, <i>Countryfile<\/i>, <i>the Mail<\/i>, <i>The Washington Post<\/i> and numerous others. He is also the author of several books including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hachette.co.uk\/titles\/vybarr-cregan-reid\/primate-change\/9781788401081\/\">Primate Change: How the world We Made is Remaking Us<\/a> (Hachette, 2018), which investigates where we came from, who we are today and how modern technology will change us beyond recognition, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.penguin.co.uk\/books\/110\/1108162\/footnotes\/9780091960209.html\">Footnotes: How Running Makes Us Human<\/a> (Penguin, 2017), which explores why running is so important.<\/p>\n<div class=\"et_pb_module et_pb_text et_pb_text_0 et_pb_bg_layout_light et_pb_text_align_left et_had_animation\" data-animation-style=\"slideRight\" data-animation-repeat=\"\" data-animation-duration=\"1000ms\" data-animation-delay=\"0ms\" data-animation-intensity=\"5%\" data-animation-starting-opacity=\"100%\" data-animation-speed-curve=\"ease-in-out\">\n<div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\">Vybarr\u2019s next venture with \u2018Love Trails\u2019 will be to host the first ever Global Trail Running Day on 19 September 2020.
