Written by noted composer Mark Springer, with the libretto is by prize-winning novelist David Flusfeder, and with Charlotte Horton, acclaimed wine-maker and castle restorer as the artistic director, Army of Lovers is the first of a series of concerts to be held in the courtyard of Castello di Potentino.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Mark Springer and Charlotte Horton have been working together for five years at Castello di Potentino on a series of concerts called \u2018Concerti nel Cortile\u2019 \u2013 Concerts in the Castle Courtyard.<\/p>\n

The projects have been developing in scale and scope year-on-year. For this season it was decided to put on a new opera for three voices and piano based on Plutarch\u2019s tale of the Sacred Band of Thebes, called Army of Lovers.<\/p>\n

The piece is to be performed in the castle\u2019s fortified courtyard with an interactive visual projection on its ancient facades. Award-winning director Eugene Jarecki and artist Georgina Hill will create the moving image.<\/p>\n

The cast consists of three internationally renowned singers; Derek Lee Ragin (Counter Tenor), Alexander Robin Baker (Bass Baritone), and Thomas Segen (Tenor).<\/p>\n
