Join us for a day of artist performances, workshops, film and animal expert-led tours, exploring our co-habitation with other species, in particular those seen as pests or strays, relegated to the edges of human society.<\/p>\n
See new live works by artists Bronwen Buckeridge, who will translate a real time phone call with a raven into an avian performance, and Robbie Judkins, who will use sonic devices that scare animals away to create sound composition. Become part of a troop of monkeys or blind creatures in artist Adam James\u2019s Live Action Role Play workshops. The day also includes \u2018Co-Existence: John Berger\u2019s Films about Animals\u2019, a special screening of two films made in collaboration with the critic John Berger, and an in conversation with artist and activist Andrea Luka Zimmerman. Zimmerman\u2019s Taskafa: Stories of the Street is a poetic portrait of the street dogs of Istanbul and the residents who care for them, while the animal masked presenters in Mike Dibbs\u2019 Parting Shots from Animals explore our marginalisation of non-human species.\u00a0Kaori Nagai and\u00a0Ben Grant of\u00a0the School of English\u00a0at the University of Kent\u00a0are also \u00a0participating in the event\u00a0by giving short talks on works in the Animals & Us exhibition.\u00a0\u200b\u200b<\/span><\/p>\n PEST has been organised by curator and researcher Rose Thompson in collaboration Gareth Evans, Film Curator at the Whitechapel Gallery, and the Kent Animal Humanities Network and supported by the University of Kent\u2019s School of Arts.<\/p>\n Sunday, 16th September 11:00-17:00 at the\u00a0<\/strong>Turner Contemporary, Margate<\/strong><\/p>\n
