Would you like to work from home on an ad-hoc basis?\u00a0 Jobshop provides a proof reading service to under-graduates and post-graduates.\u00a0 We are currently recruiting for a pool of experienced Proof Readers to pick up ad-hoc work throughout the holidays and over the next academic year. You must be a registered student for the upcoming academic year 2018 &#8211; 2019.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Your job will be to \u2013 <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Read through an entire piece of work (essay or dissertation)<\/li>\n<li>Tune in to the fine detail \u2013 look for typos and grammatical mistakes, missing words and so on<\/li>\n<li>Check grammar and make grammatical changes only (changes to be shown in the margin using MS Word track changes)<\/li>\n<li>Check for flow and sentences make sense<\/li>\n<li>Check English<\/li>\n<li>Check the layout and format of paragraphs and headings<\/li>\n<li>Check references \u2013 make sure everyone referenced in the text is in the references section (you are not expected to know the format as this changes from faculty to faculty)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Proof readers will not \u2013<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Edit work e.g. delete text<\/li>\n<li>Re-write sentences or paragraphs<\/li>\n<li>Re-name an essay \/dissertation<\/li>\n<li>Check or give an opinion on an argument or theory<\/li>\n<li>Write any part of an essay or dissertation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Skills and Experience required \u2013<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>English as a first language<\/li>\n<li>Excellent English language and grammar skills<\/li>\n<li>Post graduate with an English degree\/ similar qualification would be an advantage<\/li>\n<li>Able to work independently and to deadlines<\/li>\n<li>Good attention to detail and able to concentrate for long periods of time<\/li>\n<li>Some similar experience of proof reading long or complex texts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How to apply \u2013 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Send a copy of your CV with covering letter to <a href=\"mailto:jobshop@kent.ac.uk\">jobshop@kent.ac.uk<\/a>, detailing any relevant experience you have.
