{"id":1694,"date":"2018-02-16T16:29:04","date_gmt":"2018-02-16T16:29:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/english-news\/?p=1694"},"modified":"2018-02-16T16:29:04","modified_gmt":"2018-02-16T16:29:04","slug":"welcome-to-urvashi-bahuguna","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/english-news\/2018\/02\/16\/welcome-to-urvashi-bahuguna\/","title":{"rendered":"Welcome to Urvashi Bahuguna"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"lead\">It is with great pleasure that we welcome Ms Urvashi Bahuguna as the 2018 Charles Wallace India Trust Visiting Research Fellow, who will be based at the School of English until May.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/english-news\/files\/2018\/02\/img_20170227_114357-e1499159708509.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1698 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/english-news\/files\/2018\/02\/img_20170227_114357-e1499159708509.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"242\" height=\"270\" \/><\/a>Urvashi Bahuguna\u2019s debut poetry collection,\u00a0<em>Mudscope<\/em>, was selected for the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/greatindianpoetry.org\/announcing-the-2017-emerging-poets-prize-winners\/\">2017 Emerging Poet\u2019s Prize<\/a>\u00a0by Aimee Nezhukumatathil and will be published late 2018 by The Great Indian Poetry Collective. Aimee described\u00a0<em>Mudscope<\/em>as\u00a0\u201ccharming and powerful [with the] terrain and radiant heart of these poems prickling and shimmering with a vibrancy hardly ever seen in a debut.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Her essays on culture, books, and mental health have appeared or are forthcoming in OPEN Magazine, The Hindu Business Line, Scroll, The Wire, Brown Paper Bag, DailyO and others. Over the years,\u00a0she has\u00a0interviewed poets, novelists, and graphic novelists from India.
