His work has won him the Independent Foreign Fiction Prize, the<br \/>\nInternational Dublin Literary Award and the Blue Peter Book Award. He has<br \/>\nbeen shortlisted for the Man Booker International Prize and the LA Times Book<br \/>\nAwards. Recent books include the new Oxford Companion to Children&#8217;s Literature<br \/>\nand a co-translation of a Guatemalan novel.
