From the \u2018prying\u2019, \u2018insidious\u2019 \u2018fingers of the European War\u2019 that Septimus Warren Smith would never be free of in\u00a0<em>Mrs Dalloway<\/em>\u00a0to Woolf\u2019s call to \u2018think peace into existence\u2019 during the Blitz in \u2018Thoughts on Peace in an Air Raid\u2019, questions of war and peace pervade her writings.
