{"id":903,"date":"2018-06-25T12:03:18","date_gmt":"2018-06-25T11:03:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/eda-news\/?p=903"},"modified":"2018-06-25T12:03:18","modified_gmt":"2018-06-25T11:03:18","slug":"eda-wins-workplace-of-the-year-award-at-thelmas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/engineering-news\/2018\/06\/25\/eda-wins-workplace-of-the-year-award-at-thelmas\/","title":{"rendered":"EDA wins Workplace of the Year award at THELMAs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The School of Engineering and Digital Arts has won the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thelmawards.co.uk\/2018\/en\/page\/2018-winners\">Workplace of the Year award<\/a> at the Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards (THELMAs).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeshighereducation.com\/news\/thelmas-2018-results-announced\">The Times Higher said the School was selected<\/a>\u00a0\u2018for its staff development programme and social activities\u2019\u00a0that focused on its Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity initiatives, which have helped\u00a0forge close bonds\u00a0<strong>between both academic and professional services staff<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-905\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/eda-news\/files\/2018\/06\/tweet-284x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"284\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/engineering-news\/files\/2018\/06\/tweet-284x300.png 284w, https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/engineering-news\/files\/2018\/06\/tweet-768x811.png 768w, https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/engineering-news\/files\/2018\/06\/tweet.png 783w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 284px) 100vw, 284px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The work centred on the creation of\u00a0a bespoke EDI participatory calendar\u00a0focused on the theme of<strong>\u00a0identity, culture and celebration<\/strong>\u00a0to recognise numerous important issues and events such as International Women\u2019s Day, LGBT History Month, Chinese New Year and\u00a0Mental Health Awareness.<\/p>\n<p>The School also cited its success in the University\u2019s inter-departmental sporting competition\u00a0as a means to bring together different staff from across the School\u00a0to win the event in both 2016 and 2017.
