{"id":425,"date":"2014-10-03T01:00:00","date_gmt":"2014-10-03T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.eda.kent.ac.uk\/news-ext\/2014\/10\/03\/guest-lecturer-and-eda-alum-imparts-visual-effects-expertise\/"},"modified":"2014-10-03T01:00:00","modified_gmt":"2014-10-03T00:00:00","slug":"guest-lecturer-and-eda-alum-imparts-visual-effects-expertise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/engineering-news\/2014\/10\/03\/guest-lecturer-and-eda-alum-imparts-visual-effects-expertise\/","title":{"rendered":"Guest Lecturer and EDA Alum imparts visual effects expertise"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>On Thursday 2nd October 2014, Mr He Sun, University of Kent Alum from the School of Engineering and Digital Arts (MSc Digital Visual Effects 2007-2008) returned as a guest lecturer to show students the construction of a digital matte painting using Maya and Nuke.  <\/p>\n<p>He Sun currently works for Jagex as a visual effects supervisor and runs a team responsible for producing  fire and smoke effects, and environmental lighting for real time rendering in games design.<\/p>\n<p>Jagex Games Studio, based in Cambridge, is the UK&#8217;s largest independent developer and publisher of online games and is best known for &#8216;RuneScape&#8217;, the world&#8217;s largest free-to-play MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game)  &#8211; a genre of role-playing video games in which a very large number of players interact with one another within a virtual game world.  The company&#8217;s name comes from its original slogan, &#8216;Java Gaming Experts&#8217;.
