{"id":3110,"date":"2021-12-17T15:30:28","date_gmt":"2021-12-17T15:30:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/eda-news\/?p=3110"},"modified":"2022-03-08T11:40:42","modified_gmt":"2022-03-08T11:40:42","slug":"msc-by-research-student-bamidele-wins-runner-up-award-at-ieee-symposium","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/engineering-news\/2021\/12\/17\/msc-by-research-student-bamidele-wins-runner-up-award-at-ieee-symposium\/","title":{"rendered":"MSc by Research student Bamidele wins runner up award at IEEE Symposium"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Congratulations to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/courses\/postgraduate\/2701\/electronic-engineering\">MSc Electronic Engineering (by Research)<\/a> student Bamidele Ogunjumelo who has won the Runner Up Best Presentation award at the <a href=\"https:\/\/ieeeukiyp.org\/3rd_stem\/\">3rd IEEE UK&amp;I YP Postgrad STEM Research Symposium<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The symposium provided the opportunity for early career STEM researchers to present their research, receive feedback, and explore the possibilities of turning research to enterprise.<\/p>\n<p>At the symposium, Bamidele presented his research on <em>Volumetric Reconstruction of Burner Flames through Deep Learning, <\/em>which is supervised by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/engineering\/people\/673\/hossain-md-moinul\">Dr Md Moinul Hossain<\/a>, Lecturer in Electronic Engineering, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/engineering\/people\/727\/lu-gang\">Dr Gang Lu<\/a>, Reader in Electronic Instrumentation.<\/p>\n<p>Bamidele says: &#8216;Volumetric tomography is a powerful technique for combustion diagnostics due to its capacity to visualize flame structures in three-dimension (3-D). In this research, we are working on implementing a deep learning-based algorithm for the 3-D reconstruction of burner flames.
