Qingling\u2019s paper reported a new method of designing intelligent antennas for the 5th generation (5G) mobile communications base stations enabling a significant improvement in antenna performance and a reduction of antenna size\/mass. Qingling is jointly supervised by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/engineering-digital-arts\/people\/670\/gao-steven\">Professor Steven Gao<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/engineering-digital-arts\/people\/740\/young-paul\">Dr Paul Young<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Gao said \u201cThe antenna research team at EDA is internationally leading in areas of intelligent antennas and space antennas for 5G mobile communications, satellite communications and space-borne radars for earth observation. Mr Lehu Wen, another PhD student in EDA, won the Best Paper Award at the\u00a0 2019 International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation.
