The report is a comprehensive review of projects undertaken across the UK between April 2011 and March 2012 that aim to develop innovative technologies to support older and disabled people to maximise their independence.<br \/>\nThe three collaborative projects mentioned in the report are as follows and further details can be found by following the links.<\/p>\n<p>The development of a vision based facial gesture recognition system to control assistive technology in neuro-disability  <\/p>\n<p>\tUsing a novel inertial sensor based system to assess upper limb movement in brain injury<\/p>\n<p>The development of an intelligent and autonomous powered wheelchair (SYSIASS)<br \/>\nThis project has has also received a mention in the Annual Report of EKHUFT that has been submitted to Secretary of State for Health. <\/p>\n<p>The first two projects will be presented at the annual combined conference of the American Neurorehabilitation Societies ACRM and ASNR in October 2012. The authors have been invited to join the prestigious American Faculty for Rehabilitation Medicine.
