{"id":1804,"date":"2020-02-29T20:28:24","date_gmt":"2020-02-29T20:28:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/eda-news\/?p=1804"},"modified":"2022-03-08T11:46:19","modified_gmt":"2022-03-08T11:46:19","slug":"bletchley-park-to-showcase-maths-inspired-community-art-project-featuring-digital-artwork-by-eda-alumna-sara-choudhrey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/engineering-news\/2020\/02\/29\/bletchley-park-to-showcase-maths-inspired-community-art-project-featuring-digital-artwork-by-eda-alumna-sara-choudhrey\/","title":{"rendered":"Bletchley Park to showcase maths inspired community art project\u00a0featuring digital artwork by EDA Alumna, Sara Choudhrey"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bletchley Park<span data-contrast=\"none\">, the former home of Britain\u2019s World War Two Codebreakers, and the <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mkiac.org\">Milton Keynes Islamic Arts Centre<\/a> (MKIAC) <span data-contrast=\"none\">are holding an after-hours event from <\/span>Thursday 5 \u2013 Saturday 7th March from 6-8pm<span data-contrast=\"none\"> to showcase a digital light projection and installation on the iconic Bletchley Park Mansion. <\/span>Digital Light: Code Makers<span data-contrast=\"none\"> will be projected throughout the grounds at Bletchley Park celebrating the codes, patterns and symbols in mathematics and Islamic art.\u202f<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">A group of digital and calligraphy artists including EDA Alumna,\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sarachoudhrey.com\">Sara Choudhrey<\/a> together with Maryam Smit, Pete Cleary <span data-contrast=\"none\">and <\/span>Soraya Syed<span data-contrast=\"none\"> will be showcasing their work alongside a host of local community groups and schools who have been involved in the project.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>MKIAC<span data-contrast=\"none\"> was founded in 2002 by <\/span>Anouar Kassim MBE,<span data-contrast=\"none\"> with a vision to share traditional and contemporary Islamic Arts and Culture to encourage community cohesion through creativity. Artistically the company focuses on live performance, visual and digital arts through developing and nurturing new emerging artists, and creative participation.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Anouar Kassim MBE<span data-contrast=\"none\"> says: <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201c<\/span><\/b>Digital Light: Code Makers<span data-contrast=\"none\"> is a project that is rooted in the community of Milton Keynes with links to the local heritage of Bletchley Park. By projecting a maths and codebreaking inspired light artwork &#8211; created by<\/span> Shenley Brook End School, MK College<span data-contrast=\"none\"> and the local community onto the iconic Mansion in the middle of the heritage site and through our accompanying project outreach, we hope to send out a positive message of peace, unity and collaboration.\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bletchleypark.org.uk\">Bletchley Park<\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\"> is a vibrant heritage attraction and museum, open daily to visitors.
