{"id":1335,"date":"2019-03-04T12:51:40","date_gmt":"2019-03-04T12:51:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/eda-news\/?p=1335"},"modified":"2019-03-04T12:51:40","modified_gmt":"2019-03-04T12:51:40","slug":"dr-jim-ang-visits-universities-in-thailand-and-malaysia-to-foster-collaborative-research-in-the-areas-of-digital-health-and-health-engineering","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/engineering-news\/2019\/03\/04\/dr-jim-ang-visits-universities-in-thailand-and-malaysia-to-foster-collaborative-research-in-the-areas-of-digital-health-and-health-engineering\/","title":{"rendered":"Dr Jim Ang visits universities in Thailand and Malaysia to foster collaborative research in the areas of digital health and health engineering"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/engineering-digital-arts\/people\/622\/ang-chee-siang--jim\">Jim Ang<\/a>, Senior Lecturer in Multimedia\/Digital Systems and Director of Graduate Studies (Taught) in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/engineering-digital-arts\/about\">School of Engineering and Digital Arts<\/a> has recently returned to the UK following academic internationalisation visits to a number of universities in Thailand and Malaysia.<\/p>\n<p>Whilst in Bangkok, Jim attended the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britishcouncil.or.th\/en\/events\/british-council-study-uk-grand-exhibition-2019\">British Council Education Fair<\/a>, and talked to prospective students from Thailand who were interested in studying at the University of Kent. \u00a0\u00a0Jim also visited <a href=\"https:\/\/tueng.tu.ac.th\/\">Thammasat University<\/a> in Bangkok, and had an interesting meeting regarding collaborative research in the area of digital health and health engineering.<\/p>\n<p>He then travelled North to visit Dr Pruet Putjorn, who recently completed his PhD in the School of Engineering and Digital Arts and is now an academic in Mea Fah Luang University in Chiang Rai. \u00a0\u00a0In Northern Thailand, Jim delivered a research presentation in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cmu.ac.th\/en\/\">Chiang Mai University<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/en.mfu.ac.th\/home.html\">Mea Fah Luang<\/a>, on his research in the area of Game and Sensing Technologies for Healthcare.<\/p>\n<p>Jim travelled south to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and visited three universities where he, delivered a presentation at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unikl.edu.my\/\">University Kuala Lumpur<\/a>, and visited the <a href=\"https:\/\/medicine.um.edu.my\/\">Medical School in University Malaya<\/a> to discuss Kent\u2019s on-going research collaboration in digital health\/health engineering.
