{"id":1166,"date":"2018-10-31T14:16:07","date_gmt":"2018-10-31T14:16:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/eda-news\/?p=1166"},"modified":"2018-10-31T14:17:58","modified_gmt":"2018-10-31T14:17:58","slug":"eda-receives-a-bronze-award-under-athena-swan-charter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/engineering-news\/2018\/10\/31\/eda-receives-a-bronze-award-under-athena-swan-charter\/","title":{"rendered":"EDA receives a Bronze Award under Athena SWAN Charter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"lead\">The School of Engineering and Digital Arts has successfully received a Bronze Award under the Athena SWAN Charter.\u00a0<\/p>\n<header>\n<div class=\"content-container\">\n<p class=\"content-main\">The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecu.ac.uk\/equality-charters\/charter-marks-explained\/\">Athena Swan Charter<\/a>\u00a0is designed\u00a0to\u00a0encourage and recognise commitment to advancing the careers of women\u00a0in science, technology, engineering, maths and medicine (STEMM) employment in higher education and research.<\/p>\n<p>A Bronze award recognises that the School of Engineering and Digital Arts has\u00a0a solid foundation for eliminating gender bias\u00a0and developing an inclusive culture that values all staff. This includes\u00a0initiatives such as working to promote the number of female students on courses, ensuring an even balance of male and female teaching and academic staff, and\u00a0putting equality policies in place for all staff.
