{"id":1008,"date":"2018-07-30T10:23:08","date_gmt":"2018-07-30T09:23:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/eda-news\/?p=1008"},"modified":"2019-05-20T09:21:25","modified_gmt":"2019-05-20T08:21:25","slug":"waves-an-international-media-collaboration-between-eda-and-the-school-of-arts-design-and-media-nanyang-technological-university-singapore","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/engineering-news\/2018\/07\/30\/waves-an-international-media-collaboration-between-eda-and-the-school-of-arts-design-and-media-nanyang-technological-university-singapore\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Waves&#8217; &#8211; an international media collaboration between EDA and the School of Arts Design and Media, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Wednesday 1st August and Thursday 2nd August, an exciting international media collaboration entitled: &#8216;<em>Waves: Crosscurrents of Art, Technology and Environment<\/em>&#8216; between emerging artists\u00a0from the School of Art, Design &amp; Media (Nanyang Technological University Singapore) and the School of Engineering and Digital Arts (EDA) at the University of Kent will simultaneously take place in Singapore\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/mediaartnexus\/\">https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/mediaartnexus\/<\/a>\u00a0and in the UK at the Gulbenkian Theatre, University of Kent\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/TheGulbenkian\/\">https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/TheGulbenkian\/\u00a0<\/a>to which you are cordially invited to attend.<\/p>\n<p>WAVES will deliver two media architecture installations, one in Singapore at the Media Art Nexus NTU (MAN NTU) under the auspices of NTU Art &amp; Heritage Museum, and one in the UK, at the Gulbenkian Theatre Media Fa\u00e7ade.<\/p>\n<p>The selected artworks make use of digital technologies in the public sphere to connect people, culture and community across geographies, bridging the distance between the two continents. This cross-continental urban media project aims to build a sense of community beyond physical space, using art to develop global awareness and to support cross-cultural audiovisual exchanges.
