Dr Mohamed Sakel, a member of the School of Engineering and Digital Arts since 2010, has made the top 70 in a poll of health and social care’s standout stars of the last 70 years. A Consultant Physician and Director of Neuro-Rehabilitation and Research & Development at the East Kent University Foundation Hospitals Trust, he has worked closely on a number of joint projects with EDA. Recent projects include the first clinical trials of robotic legs for patients with mobility problems and, in a collaboration with colleagues from the School of Psychology, research into Parkinson’s Disease.
Professor Karen Cox, who became Vice-Chancellor in August 2017, is one of the 70 most influential nurses and midwives from 1948 to 2018.
The NHS turns 70 on 5 July 2018.
