In the Chinese Zodiac, dogs symbolise good fortune, loyalty, obedience and prosperity. It is believed that those born in the Year of the Dog are gentle, responsible, kind-hearted and loyal. They are good communicators and listeners.
After a splendid buffet of authentic Chinese food, an entertaining presentation was given by Dr Chao Gu about the Year of the Dog and the story of the Great Race leading to the Chinese Zodiac. A video clip of the speech by the Prime Minister, Theresa May, was also played at the party. Professor Farzin Deravi and Professor Yong Yan delivered concluding remarks, giving their best wishes for the New Year and thanking the organisers of the event. The evening was rounded off with a range of party card games.
