The Third Annual Robot Challenge (2017) took place on Thursday 6th April at the School of Engineering and Digital Arts via teleconference between first year engineering students from the University of Kent and the University of Paris Nanterre.
The 2016 Challenge was won by the Kent team whilst in 2015 the French team were victorious.
Students designed and built robots to compete on two tasks: in the first task, robots had to follow the track accurately with the highest speed possible, and in the second task, robots had to recognise signs on the track and perform corresponding actions, such as a 360 degrees turn.
The competition this year was tough and the results were balanced giving greater motivation for the challenge next year. This year, the Kent team won the first task overall, whilst the French team won the second task, resulting in a draw.
