In the Seminar, Dr Zou will discuss microwave photonics and advances in photonic-filters-assisted microwave signals generation.
Dr. Zou joined the Center for Information Photonics & Communications, Southwest Jiaotong University in 2009, where he is currently a full professor. Since October 2014, he has been working as a Humboldt Research Fellow in the Institute of Optoelectronics, University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany. He was a visiting researcher and a joint training Ph.D. student of the Microwave Photonics Research Laboratory, School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, University of Ottawa, Ottawa, Canada, in July and August of 2011 and in 2007- 008, respectively. He was also a visiting researcher in the Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique-Énergie, Matériaux et Télécommunications (INRS-EMT), Montreal, Canada, in July and August of 2012. His current interests include microwave photonics, radio over fiber, optical pulse generation and compression, fiber Bragg grating. He has authored or coauthored over 70 academic papers in refereed journals.
Dr. Zou is a recipient of the Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellowship (2014), National Outstanding Expert in Science & Technology of China (2014), the Nomination Award for the National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation of China (2011), the Science & Technology Award for Young Scientist of Sichuan Province, China (2013). He is a member of the IEEE, OSA, SPIE, and Chinese Optical Society. He is serving as the Guest Editor of Special Section on Microwave Photonics in Optical Engineering, SPIE.All members of academic, technical and administrative staff are welcome to the seminar. RAs and postgraduates (PhD candidates and MSc students) are particularly encouraged to attend the event. Dr Chao Wang will chair the Seminar and any enquiries should be addressed to Dr Wang. (C.Wang@kent.ac.uk).
