Dr Jean Venables, CBE, FREng and Honorary Graduate of the University of Kent, delivered EDA’s third 50th Anniversary lecture, entitled ‘Flood Risk Management’ on Wednesday 4th February 2015 at the School of Engineering and Digital Arts.
From her experience of water level and flood risk management, Jean explored the changes needed to deal with present day challenges and improve effectiveness. Her lecture clearly illustrated how engineers contribute to the quality of life and underpin modern civilization.
Dr Venables was born in Dover and educated at Dover Girls Grammar School. She is a leading consultant in flood risk management and water level management, Chairman of Crane Environmental, and Chief Executive of the Association of Drainage Authorities,
