C.H. (Kees) de Groot received a Master’s degree in Physics in 1994 from the University of Groningen, the Netherlands, and a Ph.D. degree in 1998 from the University of Amsterdam for research carried out at the Philips Research laboratories in Eindhoven. Subsequently, he was a Research Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, where he conducted research on spin tunnel junction and phase change materials.
Since 2000, Professor de Groot has worked at the University of Southampton. His research interests range from electronic materials, nano devices, to circuits applications, with a focus of integration of Nanotechnology with Si device processing. He is an author of over 80 journal publications and a number of patents.
All members of academic, technical and administrative staff are welcome to the seminar. RAs and postgraduates (PhD candidates and MSc students) are particularly encouraged to attend the event.
