Congratulations to Xuekang Liu who has just won the prestigious Young Scientist Award from the International Union of Radio Science (URSI). Xuekang is a PhD student at the School of Engineering, supervised by Dr Benito Sanz, Dr Chao Wang, Professor Steven Gao and industry collaborators. Xuekang’s research work focuses on the development of innovative theory and design techniques for 5G/6G mobile communications base station antennas and arrays. The aim of his research work is to make these antennas become more intelligent while significantly reducing their size and power consumption. He has already published a number of papers in top Journals and international conferences, and also won the Best Student Paper Award at 2022 iWAT international conference this May.
Dr. Sanz said “We are very proud of our PhD student Mr Xuekang Liu who won the URSI Young Scientist Award. The Communications Research Group at the School of Engineering is internationally leading in the research fields of intelligent antennas, RFID, wireless communications and photonics. Xuekang’s winning of USRI Young Scientist Award demonstrates again that researchers at the School of Engineering are amongst the best in the world.”
