Election of Dr. Mohamed Sakel to the Medical Academic Staff Committee of British Medical Association

Dr Mohamed Sakel, in his role as Honorary Senior Research Fellow in the School of Engineering and Digital Arts, was elected in June 2012 for a term of one year as a member of the Medical Academic Staff Committee of the British Medical Association (UK). His role is to provide advice with respect to teaching and research within the NHS, including collaboration with Higher Education Institutions. One example of this is the development of the role of clinical academics who have joint appointments between a hospital and an HEI. Dr. Sakel is the Head of the East Kent Neuro-Rehabilitation Unit of the East Kent Hospitals University Foundation Trust.
